ESCAPE FROM LONDON TO THE ISLE OF WIGHT FOR UNDER £20!

A £10 day return train ticket offer from London to Southampton, Portsmouth and Southsea stations with South West Trains, combined with a discounted “Winter Smile” ferry ticket means there are even more reasons to visit the Isle of Wight this February.

The South West Trains £10 day return ticket offer (£5 for children) is valid for train travel from London to Southampton and Southsea every Saturday and Sunday until February 23.    Visitors can also use this £10 ticket offer to get an additional discount on Solent crossings to and from the Isle of Wight and “get abroad” for less than £20 for the day!

The Isle of Wight is a great place to escape to at any time of the year, but the winter months is a perfect time to ‘pop-across’ to Island from London.   In a little over two hours, you can travel by train and ferry from London Waterloo to the Isle of Wight – and see for yourself the beautiful combination of charming seaside resorts and rural beauty which it offers.  It’s also possible to explore the Island by bus, or bike, from Cowes and Ryde.

There are also stylish boutiques, craft outlets and a treasure trove of fab antique shops to explore and for those who want to celebrate Valentine’s Day by spending some quiet time together, the Island‘s secluded beaches can offer you crowd free sand and plenty of space to soak up the Island vibe.   Or stretch your mind and your spirit by taking in a Royal palace, a Roman villa, a medieval castle or a Benedictine Monastery.

And with a range of brilliant great kids’ activities, including ‘Castle Quest’ at Carisbrooke Castle and the annual sand-sculpting event at Small Hope Beach in Shanklin, with hot chocolate and carrots dished out to anyone who creates their own “snowman” from sand, the Isle of Wight makes a great half-term day out for families.

David Thornton, Chief Executive, Visit Isle of Wight said: “The Isle of Wight is well and truly “open for business” and this unbeatable offer from South West Trains offers an entire Island of exciting adventures and seaside experiences.”
