A new collaboration with Paramount Pictures UK, sees Visit Isle of Wight’s popular free to download Isle of Fright Ghost Trail app (iOS/Android) re-launched this Autumn.
The app has been updated as part of promotions to celebrate the forthcoming ‘Rings’, a new chapter in the beloved RING horror franchise, written by David Loucka and Jacob Estes and Akiva Goldsman, directed by F. Javier Gutierrez.
The app returns with the popular features of spooky Isle of Wight tales and the fun ‘ghost bombing’ element that allows users to apply ghostly filters over their photos for sharing on social media.
In a twist on the thirteen ‘cold spots’ (Isle of Wight locations with paranormal associations), this year the app has been updated to include a competition to win ‘Rings’ merchandise from Paramount Pictures UK.
To enter the competition, app users are encouraged to physically travel to areas across the Isle of Wight and record their visits using the app to hidden ‘dark sites’. Users need to visit a certain number of dark sites to unlock entrance to the competition page. But beware the “witching hour” when creatures of the night are thought to appear and be at their most powerful!
Users of the app who are not on the Isle of Wight are able to listen to the audio of the ghost stories narrated by Isle of Wight spirit guide Marc Tuckey. They can also unlock entrance to the competition page via an in app quiz.

The app will be available to download from mid-October through to the end of November 2016.
