Bestival 2012

Bestival 2012 sees the return of the award-winning festival to Robin Hill Adventure Park & Gardens with possibly its best line-up to date!

Soul legend Stevie Wonder headlines the Sunday night in a rare festival appearance, with New Order (of “Blue Monday” fame) headlining the Saturday and Florence and the Machine on the Friday night. Also featerd on this years bill are Orbital, Sigur Ros, Emeli Sande, Nero, Sub Focus, Two Door Cinema Club, Friendly Fires, Rizzle Kicks and some musical legends in the shape of Earth Wind and Fire, Gary Numan and the mighty Chas and Dave!

As ever there is a great representation for Isle of Wight music with Bestival band and DJ competition winners Southern Big Man and The March Hare, alongside regulars Born in a Barn, The Playground Syndicate and Tom Headfunk (who will be hosting a Bestival radio show as well as DJing on Thursday.)

New to the Bestival this year is the “Amphitheatre” performance space in the woods, with the “Lost Picture Show” – a vintage style cinema that will be screening movies including a re-scored version of the 1930s original King Kong by festival organiser Rob da Bank. The Bestival’s ever present Bollywood Bar has also undergone a makeover which includes an old London bus which has been converted into a chill-out bar. The festival has also expanded its camping area to make it much easier to pitch your tent this year.

This years fancy dress theme is “Wildlife” and the parade as ever will take place on Saturday afternoon. The 2012 Bestival starts on Thursday 6th September and runs until Sunday 9th.

All standard camping tickets for the Bestival are now SOLD OUT. There are however still a handful of “non-camping” tickets available, and also tickets for “The Wild Copse” – the all new camping area with “posh” toilets and shower facilities, and a dedicated food and seating area with its very own chill-out bar.
