Remember, remember… Scoot Ferries announces the launch of its Cowes to Portsmouth high-speed foot passenger ferry route – TWO years ahead of schedule!

Excitement is building at Scoot Ferries HQ, as the delighted Scoot team announce the start date for their new high-speed foot passenger ferry service linking Cowes and Portsmouth. It’s all systems go on the 5th November – two years ahead of the date originally announced when Scoot Ferries was launched in July, as a direct result of overwhelming public support for the route.

Scoot is justifiably proud of its new fleet – the two distinctive 20m orange and grey, high speed catamarans operating the Cowes to Portsmouth route will do the crossing in under 35 minutes and have space for 41 passengers each, as well as ample space for bikes and dogs to travel for free. In addition, every passenger will enjoy their own now infamous ‘full suspension’ seat and benefit from complimentary WIFI, underfloor heating and air-conditioning when temperatures hot up. Both vessels have easy access for reduced mobility passengers – and the superb customer service that Scoot is rapidly developing a reputation for will be very much in evidence, with two crew members to assist passengers with their luggage and provide support for any customers requiring additional help boarding or disembarking the boat.

Departing from Trinity Landing in Cowes and arriving to The Millennium Pontoon at The Camber, Portsmouth, passengers will benefit from a complimentary 5-minute Scoot Shuttle bus service to whizz them direct to the Hard Bus and Rail Interchange and Gunwharf Quays – and the timetable has been specially designed to connect with the train times to London Waterloo and London Gatwick airport. The soon-to-be introduced new ticketing system will eventually enable through ticketing right from Cowes to London and beyond – simplifying getting to work and to the airport even more.

Reinforcing Scoot’s intention that the service become a true lifeline for everyone needing to travel from and to the Isle of Wight, the Cowes to Portsmouth route will operate from early in the morning to late at night, seven days a week, 365 days a year – both the Cowes to Portsmouth and existing Yarmouth to Lymington routes will operate a normal timetable on Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Year’s Eve – with a reduced service operating on both Christmas Day and New Year’s Day…the gift of mince pies for the crew to say thank you from customers would most definitely be welcomed!

As with its Yarmouth to Lymington route, Scoot recommends pre-booking on all crossings for a cheaper ticket price – this means up to 5 minutes before on most sailings but with free amends and refunds as long as its customers have contacted the Scoot Team in advance of their original booking. This open communication even extends to their customers being able to contact the on board crew directly if outside of normal office hours via a special emergency Scoot boat phone number!

Scoot will be launching its Cowes to Portsmouth route initially with three ticket options – a PriorityScooter ticket for pre-booked passengers; an OnBoardScooter ticket for non-prebooked passengers and an AnyTimeScooter multi-ticket option which offers cheaper travel for regular Scooters and which is transferable between friends, families and colleagues. Return tickets are priced the same whether a passenger is travelling back on the same day or up to 30 days later.
